Catholic Charities

"To provide service to those in need, to advocate for justice,to encourage all Catholics, all people to live justly and have a care for the poor."

Catholic Charities, founded in 1940, is concerned with the problems facing our contemporary society - the breakdown of the family unit, the rising divorce rate, family dysfunction as a result of substance abuse, unemployment, and illness, and other issues brought on by stress and tension, such as depression and anxiety.

In response to these needs, we offer: individual, family, marital, and group counseling; emergency financial assistance; foster care and adoption services; Real Alternatives , a program which assists women in crisis pregnancies; and marriage preparation and enrichment.

Our services are provided by a skilled, experienced staff, many of whom have master's degrees in counseling and social work and are licensed and certified by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and other professional organizations.

We are able to provide these services through the financial support of the Annual Catholic Appeal, United Ways, and generous contributions from individual donors.

We are committed to serving the people of central Pennsylvania without regard for race, ethnic origin, religious belief, or financial means, giving concrete expression to Matthew 25: to love and serve our neighbor as ourself.
