(CRESSON, PA). - On Tuesday, January 29, 2008, Mount Aloysius College held a press conference in the Wolf-Kuhn Gallery in the Main Administration Building on the Mount Aloysius College campus to announce the articulation agreements that have been signed with the Catholic High Schools in the Altoona-Johnstown Diocese.

Sister Mary Ann Dillon, President of Mount Aloysius College, formally presented the articulation agreements to Sister Donna Marie Leiden, Director of Education, Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown and to the three principals from each of the respective Catholic high schools in the Altoona-Johnstown Diocese: Ms. Kristie L. Wolfe, from Bishop Carroll,
Mr. Robert Gervinski, from Bishop Guifoyle, Ms. Kelly Mack, from Bishop McCort, accepting on behalf of Mr. Ken Salem, Principal.

Mount Aloysius College celebrates the many successes of Bishop Carroll, Bishop Guilfoyle, and Bishop McCort High Schools and the long shared relationship between the College and High Schools. The high schools are recognized for their commitment to preparing so many students for higher education. Furthermore, Mount Aloysius College values and supports the
goals of Bishop Carroll, Bishop Guilfoyle, and Bishop McCort to educate the total person in an atmosphere of love, discipline and honor in the Catholic tradition.

“The educational commitment that Mount Aloysius College is pledging to students and parents at Bishop Carroll, Bishop Guilfoyle and Bishop McCort High Schools is outstanding and to-date has not been equaled by any other college,” said Sr. Donna Marie Leiden, Director of
Education, Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown. “We are grateful for this creative cooperation that will link our Catholic educational institutions. We know that it will be a welcome financial benefit to those families who choose the gift of a Catholic education.”

In an effort to further support Catholic High Schools in the Altoona-Johnstown Diocese, and the good of Catholic education as a whole, Mount Aloysius College has joined in this agreement in order to advance the relationship with Bishop Carroll, Bishop Guilfoyle, and
Bishop McCort as successful institutions of Catholic education. Students graduating this June will be the first group of students who are able to take advantage of these agreements.

“The Articulation agreement with Mount Aloysius College is a tremendous opportunity for our families,” said Robert Gervinski, Principal, Bishop Guilfoyle High School. “The arrangement is assurance to our students, that if they work hard now, the collegiate experience
is there for them. It also assures parents their investment in a quality Catholic education at Bishop Guilfoyle High School is money toward their child’s college fund at Mount Aloysius. I believe that this new program will help parents commit to Catholic education at an early point
in their school selection decision-making process.”

According to the agreement, all students who graduate from an academic program or college preparatory program that meet the Pennsylvania state standards for a high school diploma are eligible to apply for admission at Mount Aloysius College. All students who are accepted and have successfully completed Advanced Placement coursework, Dual Enrollment
credit or any college credit from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning will be reviewed for advanced standing at the College. Mount Aloysius College provides a flexible transfer process regarding academic course work. All students accepted will automatically receive the Heritage Scholarship valued at $4,000 over a four year period. Students who receive combined Critical Reading and Math SAT of 1000 or 21 ACT and an 85% or 3.0 quality point average will be guaranteed acceptance into competitive academic programs and will receive institutional academic scholarships. Students with these minimum qualifications will receive $20,000 over a four year period. Students who wish to compete for the Mercy Presidential Scholarship need to have a combined Critical Reading and Math SAT of 1100 or ACT of 23 and a 90% or 3.2 quality point average. The Mercy Presidential Scholarship is currently valued at $32,000 over the four year period. Students receiving the Mercy Presidential Scholarship are not eligible to stack this with the $20,000 academic scholarship. The Mercy Presidential Scholarship is the most prestigious scholarship the College provides.
It is based on a commitment to home, school and community.

The agreement also states that any student from Bishop Carroll, Bishop Guilfoyle, or Bishop McCort who currently participates in the Misciagna Challenge Program (for academically and financially at-risk students) will be given priority consideration for Misciagna Scholarships at Mount Aloysius.
