Prince Gallitzin Cross Award

Bishop Joseph presented the 2010 Prince Gallitzin Cross Award to eleven people during a dinner and ceremony on Saturday, June 5, at the Cosgrave Center at Mount Aloysius College in Cresson.

Bishop Joseph created the Prince Gallitzin Cross award as a way of recognizing those who exhibit the "evangelizing spirit" of the Prince-Priest Demetrius A. Gallitzin.

The 2010 Prince Gallitzin Cross Awardees

  • Ms. Gaye Boyer -- Saint Aloysius Parish, Cresson -- honored for initiating "The Catecheis of the Good Shepherd" youth ministry at Saint Aloysius.
  • Mrs. Marie Brown -- Holy Rosary Parish, Altoona -- honored for 44 years as a sacristan at her parish and for assisting the Carmelite nuns in Loretto.
  • Mrs. Lois Drahnak -- Holy Name Parish, Ebensburg -- honored for her hospitality ministry at her parish.
  • Ms. Joan Noonan -- Saint Joan of Arc Parish, Frugality -- honored for a lifetime of dedicated service to her parish.
  • Mr. Douglas Puchko -- Saint Michael the Archangel Parish, Johnstown -- honored for leading renovations at the parish and serving in many other ministries.
  • Mr. and Mrs. James and Mary Agnes Roccio -- Saint Benedict Parish, Johnstown -- honored for many years to service to the Diocese and their parish.
  • Sister Nancy Spence, CCW -- Parochial Administrator of Saint Joseph Parish in Renovo -- honored for her caring leadership at the parish.
  • Mrs. Susan Stith -- Basilica of Saint Michael the Archangel Parish, Loretto -- honored for initiating "The Catecheis of the Good Shepherd" youth ministry at Saint Aloysius.
  • Rev. Alan Thomas -- Pastor of Resurrection Parish in Johnstown -- honored for his unifying leadership at Resurrection, which was created after the merger of the five former parishes in the Cambria City neighborhood.
  • Rev. Msgr. Samuel Tomaselli -- Senior Priest -- honored for a lifetime of service as a priest and his continuing contributions as a senior priest.
