Giving Witness to a Catholic Presence in University Life
To the approximately 10,000 Catholic students
on campus, the Penn State Catholic Community at University
Park offers a spiritual home away from home. PSCC
is a dynamic coalition of students, faculty, staff, local
community members and alumni grounded in the Tradition of
the Church. Liturgies, retreats, service projects like "Project
Haiti," Bible studies, prayer groups and other activities
nurture the faith and open hearts to hear God's message.
In addition to Diocesan funding and regular offertory gifts,
interested benefactors have provided more than $100,000
to support activities of the PSCC. These generous
contributions assist with funding the ministry as well as
the student-led Newman Club.
Lock Haven Newman Community Benefits From
Gifts
The Newman Community at Lock Haven University
has been blessed with several special gifts recently.
The retired owners of Haven Homes, Mr. Charles Mogish and
Mr. Charles Ballard, donated the house which is now home
of the Newman Community. Also, a bequest gift of more
than $100,000 from the estate of Mrs. Magdeline White was
left to the Diocese specifically for Catholic campus ministry
at Lock Haven.
Other interested alumni, parents and friends
provide special contributions to support Diocesan campus
ministry outreach programs at Penn State - University Park,
Penn State - Altoona, Lock Haven University, Juniata College
and the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown.
