The ultimate objective of the Office of Stewardship
and Development is to help people of the Diocese to help
others often through charitable giving vehicles and development
programs and encourage individual consideration to the giving
of time, talent and treasure to strengthen the message of
Christ in our life as a Diocesan Church . The office staff
members are trained to facilitate deferred giving by interested
donors through the use of bequests, charitable gift annuities
and trusts, insurance and other planned giving vehicles.
Independent Foundation for the Diocese
of Altoona-Johnstown
Many Diocesan parishes, cemeteries, schools,
ministries, services and programs benefit annually from
the distribution of income from related endowments held
by the independent Foundation for the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown.
Incorporated on June 13, 1990 to provide perpetual support
to the Diocese, the Foundation is a legally separate entity
with a lay Board of Trustees managing all its administration,
endowments and assets. The Foundation is not part of the
Diocesan structure in any way, but the diocese benefits
from its efforts.
The Mission of the Foundation is to provide
funding for this Diocesan Church , so that the Lord's work
may continue within the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown. It
is committed to the long-term strength and viability of
the Catholic institutions within the eight-county Diocese
of Altoona-Johnstown. The Foundation completed the 2004-05
fiscal year with more than $11 million in total assets as
of June 30, 2005.
Catholics and others in the region consider
the Foundation an important vehicle to assist with gift
planning, endowment management, charitable support, or education
in planned giving. Gifts to the Foundation not only further
the work of the Church, but also may provide the donor with
several benefits -- perpetuity, public accountability, tax
advantages, memorial opportunities and professional management.
